FAQs
How do I find my scooter tyre size?
Check the sidewall of your tyre — the size is usually printed or embossed there.
For example:
- 8.5 × 2 → 8.5-inch diameter, 2-inch width
- 200 × 50 → 200mm diameter, 50mm width
- 70/65-6.5 → 70mm width, 65% aspect ratio, 6.5-inch rim
If the numbers are worn off, refer to your user manual, manufacturer’s website, or or check our Tyre & Tube Size Guide for a full walkthrough.

Should I choose pneumatic or solid tyres?
It depends on your riding style:
- Pneumatic (Air-Filled) Tyres → Best for comfort, grip, and control but need regular pressure checks and can puncture.
- Solid (Airless) Tyres → Puncture-proof and low-maintenance, but provide a firmer ride.
- Honeycomb Tyres → A good balance: puncture-proof but more comfortable than solids.
| Feature | Pneumatic Tyres (Air-Filled) | Solid Tyres (Airless) |
|---|---|---|
| Ride Comfort | ✅ Smooth, absorbs bumps and shocks | ❌ Harsher ride, less cushioning |
| Grip & Handling | ✅ Excellent traction, especially on wet or uneven surfaces | ❌ Moderate grip, less flexible |
| Puncture Resistance | ❌ Prone to flats | ✅ 100% puncture-proof |
| Maintenance | ❌ Needs regular pressure checks and occasional tube replacement | ✅ Zero maintenance required |
| Durability | ❌ Moderate lifespan | ✅ Long-lasting |
| Ease of Replacement | ✅ Easier to fit and remove | ❌ More difficult, may require heat or tools |
| Performance | ✅ Better efficiency, lower rolling resistance | ❌ Slightly less efficient |
| Best For | Comfort, control, and mixed terrains | Low-maintenance, flat surfaces |
How do I deal with a flat tyre?
- Stop riding immediately to avoid rim damage.
- Check if your tyre is punctured, pinched, or leaking at the valve
You can:
- Replace the inner tube (most common fix)
- Use a puncture repair kit for small holes
- Replace the entire tyre if it’s worn or badly damaged
Pro Tip: Consider using slime-filled tubes or tyre sealant kits to prevent future flats.
When should I change my scooter tyre?
To determine if your scooter needs new tyres, you can check for the following:
- Tread depth: Look for the tread depth indicator placed between tread lines to see if the tyre has worn down to minimum levels. When the tread is too worn, the tyre needs to be replaced.
- Cracks and damage: Inspect the sidewalls and tread for any cuts, cracks, or damage. If you see any, the tyre should be replaced.
- Bulges or deformations: Look for any bulges or deformations in the sidewalls, which can indicate internal damage.
- Age: tyres have a limited lifespan, even if they appear to be in good condition. The age of a tyre can be determined by the "DOT" code on the sidewall. The last 4 digits represent the week and year of manufacture. Tyres that are more than 10 years old should be replaced, regardless of their condition.
